In 2002 I left my home in Rochester, NY for new experiences and to "become an artist".  This move led me to the south and Savannah College of Art and Design.  I followed my hearts' desire to major in Photography, something I had always enjoyed, but eventually found myself feeling lost and passionless.  After my sophomore year, I took another leap and moved to DC where I signed myself up for the Pastry Arts Program at L'Academie de Cuisine.  This small Fresh Pastry School was where fell in love: in love with pastry.  Intricate and calculated, math and art; two things I was good at! While developing my craft and pastry skills, I made my way back to Savannah, GA in order to complete my BFA.  While finishing up school, I was given the opportunity to work at Savannah Custom Cakes and discover my love for cakes.  Under the talented eye of Minette Rushing, I developed a true passion for the beauty that is cake, something I still possess all these years later.

I've always kept one foot in the pastry world; taking on wedding cakes here and there or working in bakeries in whatever city I found myself living.  After moving half way across the country in 2014, I started taking on other opportunities in food and management, but I never lost passion for my true love.

In this past unmentionable year, which I had believed was going to be my year, I realized that enough was enough.  It was time to make this dream of mine a reality.  So, while cooped up in quarantine and with the support of my husband, DanaCakesCO was born!

I'm excited to show off what Ive got an I promise to dazzle you!

Thank you for visiting and thank you for your love and support.
